A new project supported by the TULIP 2018/2019 Innovation Call

The PLANTSYS project led by Fabrice Roux (LIPM) and Rémi Peyraud (iMean startup) will be funded up to 50k€ over 12 months as decided by the LabEx Innovation Committee on February 20th.

Named PLANTSYS for « Predicting plant phenotype by systems biology », this project consists in developing a new method able to predict phenotypes of plants based on the knowledge of their genetic makeup, their molecular networks and their environmental constraints. The feasibility of this new method will be tested with the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana.

The method to be developed in the frame of the project is highly innovative since it aims to challenge prediction capacity of quantitative genetics methodology that uses empirical (statistics) modelling, with prediction capacity of systems biology methodology that uses mechanistic modelling.

The financial support of the three project’s work-packages will be shared at 35% by TULIP and 65% by iMean.
