CNRS Bronze Medal for Pierre-Marc Delaux, LRSV researcher

Pierre-Marc Delaux, a LRSV researcher (UMR UPS / CNRS) member of TULIP will receive the bronze medal of CNRS Occitanie West Talents. The medal ceremony will take place on December 10, 2019 at the Espaces Vanel in Toulouse.

The CNRS bronze medal rewards the first work of a researcher that makes him/her a talented specialist in his/her field. This award represents an encouragement from the CNRS to pursue fruitful research.

Pierre-Marc Delaux' studies focus on the study of symbiotic interactions between plants and soil microbes, and their evolution. For more than 400 million years, these symbioses have played a major role in establishing and maintaining natural ecosystems as we know them today. With the rise of genome sequencing methodologies and their analysis, all the tools are now available to understand how these symbioses, between plants and fungi or plants and bacteria, have evolved. Ultimately, this fundamental knowledge may be used to artificially evolve new symbioses and better exploit the potential of existent ones, with the aim of a sustainable and globally accessible agriculture.
