Thesis Title: Animal and Plant Responses to physiological doses of Ethanol.
She will be supervised by Simon Blanchet (DR2 CNRS, SETE) Christian Chervin (PR1 INP, LRSV)
It is a project at the interface of functional biology and ecology, focusing on the responses of animal and plant cells to low doses of ethanol. Ethanol is present in very low concentrations in organisms, especially during periods of hypoxia. These periods being increasingly frequent with climate change, the presence of ethanol in animal and plant cells could be a response of the organisms to these changes. However, the variations in physiological doses of this alcohol are little studied.

Two approaches will be used to address this question:
    a) without a priori: by determining the transcriptional changes induced in Asellus aquaticus (crustacean) and Vitis vinifera (grapevine) in response to ethanol
    b) with a priori: by studying the conformational changes of membrane proteins that are sensitive to ethanol-induced changes and which would be potential sensors of these changes.

Nicolas Martin :

Graduate student of the "Functional Ecology and Conceptualization of Terrestrial and Aquatic Ecosystems" Master of Science at the University of Montpellier, Nicolas won the "Position Grant 2021-2024" call for offers set up by TULIP Graduate School. This allowed him to have half of his thesis project funded by the Graduate School, while the second half of his doctoral allowance is paid by the BIODIVOC Project. Nicolas Martin started his thesis on October 1st, 2022 at the Station d'Ecologie Théorique et Expérimentale "SETE" in Moulis (09)."

Thesis title : To characterize (1) the multipollution tolerance phenotype and underlying functional mechanisms in G. holbrooki and (2) its consequence on ecosystems.
He will be surpervised by Lisa Jacquin (MCF EDB) Emilie Farcy (MCF MARBEC) Simon Blanchet (HDR, DR CNRS SETE)

Sarah Carpentier :
