The IHPE unit is involved in covid testing

The Host-Pathogen-Environment Interactions laboratory, a unit part of TULIP, started to carry out COVID-19 tests on April 21, 2020. This work is being carried out in partnership with the medical biology laboratory Biopole 66 (Dir. B. Marnet) and received the agreement of the ARS and the prefecture (20/04/2020).

This partnership is the fruit of long discussions and intense preparations carried out by the members of the IHPE UMR in coordination with the regional health authorities and the staff of Biopole 66. In addition, it benefits from the support and support of the supervisory bodies of the laboratory: the UPVD, the CNRS, the IFREMER and the University of Montpellier. In addition to the provision of its agents, the UMR IHPE mobilizes on the UPVD campus premises and equipment for the Bioenvironment platform, the Paradev company and the Montpellier GenomiX platform.

Up to several hundred COVID-19 tests are performed every day. This operation will significantly increase the screening potential for COVID-19 in the Pyrénées-Orientales in connection with the national strategy decided by the government. It shows a strong contribution from our community in the fight against COVID-19. It should be noted that for the time being, the UHR IHPE is the only university laboratory in the Occitania region to have successfully launched such a screening operation alongside a medical biology laboratory and that at the national level little university laboratories were able to obtain the necessary authorizations.
