Eco-functional analysis of genes involved in plant-plant interactions

INRA is opening a recruitment of external research fellow for a position at the Plants Microorganisms Interaction Laboratory. The research theme is the eco-functional analysis of genes involved in plant-plant interactions.

Key activities and required skills

Significant advances in the identification of genetic bases associated with the natural variation of plant-plant interactions, such as the recent discovery by Genome Wide Association mapping of QTLs for competitive response to weeds or cooperation between genotypes in Arabidopsis thaliana, open new perspectives for the development of innovative agro-ecological systems. In this context, the recruited person will carry out the functional validation of previously identified candidate genes. Their functional analysis will then rely on molecular and genomic approaches including biochemical and transcriptomic analyzes, in interaction with a researcher of the team studying the ecological genomics of plant-plant interactions in natural environments. In an applied perspective, the recruited person will also have to initiate the transfer of knowledge acquired from A. thaliana on some cultivated species.

Training required

PhD or equivalent. A specialisation in plant molecular biology would be desirable. Training in molecular biology and functional genetics is recommended. Experience in ecology and / or ecological genomics will be appreciated. Candidates should have a good command of English, and long-term international experience would also be desirable. Successful candidates who have not yet acquired this experience abroad will be required to do so after their probationary period (1st year).
