We are seeking a candidate to build theoretical models that link temperature-dependent community dynamics and stoichiometry within a metacommunity framework. The candidate will build on existing consumer-resource models currently developed by the group and will participate on discussions with experimental ecologists within the team to test model predictions using aquatic micro- or mesocosmes (phyto- and zooplankton mainly).

The candidate will be based in Moulis, in the Ariège Pyrenees, France. There will be some travel required to attend or present at workshops, seminars and conferences.

This position is part of the ERC Consolidator Grant FRAGCLIM “The combined effects of climatic warming and habitat fragmentation on biodiversity, community dynamics and ecosystem functioning” led by Jose M. Montoya. The project adopts an integrative approach that combines the development of new theory on metacommunities and temperature-dependent food web dynamics in close dialogue with a unique long-term aquatic mesocosm experiment.

We seek highly motivated and creative individuals with a good command of the English language and with expertise in mathematical and/or simulation models, preferably, but not limited to, the biology domain. Previous experience with micro- or mesocosm experimental systems is not required but would be a plus.

Candidates should have a PhD, with or without postdoc experience.

The position is for 2 years, starting as soon as possible.

Salary will depend on diplomas and experience, starting from 30,000 euros gross per year.

Apply with a letter of application, a CV, and the names and email addresses of two referees via the CNRS recruitment portal: https://emploi.cnrs.fr/Offres/CDD/UMR5321-DALBOO-002/Default.aspx
